Track your way to Success!

Everyone knows that diet is an important part of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but how does the average person manage their diet? Considering almost every person I ask says they know how to ‘eat healthy’ it’s a mystery as to why they are often not seeing the results they desire. For the most part, I agree for the average person (not high level athletes) eating healthy is not rocket science. So where is the missing link? As with most things, self awareness. Most people underestimate how much they eat and how many calories the foods they eat contain. Many studies have been done on the benefits of food tracking, essentially this is raising your self awareness. How can we make tracking your diet a little easier? With my new favourite website (aside from missfit.ca!) http://www.livestrong.com/ This awesome way to track your food intake is FREE! Just log on and go to MyPlate and start becoming more aware of what you eat, how much you eat, and when you eat. You can enter the calories manually or use their thorough list that automatically drops down. The key is to track EVERYTHING! Be honest and do not underestimate the size of that chicken breast (average restaurant is probably 5oz) or how many glasses of wine you had! Yes, it takes a bit of time but it’s worth it. You will eat better overall because you are accountable, and when you see the satisfaction of staying within your daily caloric intake you’ll be hooked!
